After several splendid years of formidable artworks and amazing experiences, it is with great excitement that Gallery Poulsen yet again sets the sails towards Pulse Miami Beach to show the absolute crème de la crème of vivid storytelling, sharp composition and artistic craftsmanship, represented in the masterpieces of Nicola Verlato, Jean-Pierre Roy, Mi Ju, John Jacobsmeyer, Christian Rex van Minnen and William Powhida.

For this year’s Pulse Miami Beach, we have created an outstanding visionary installation of works with a predominant political agenda! In addition to possessing utterly magic and profound visual expressions, our artists have jointly created a spectacular exhibition that gives anyone who enters the booth the opportunity to step directly into each and every art academy's textbook in painting! Each brush stroke and each line is completely perfectionist and meticulously done. Not one touch is random.

Each of these six artists has been carefully selected for this year's fair, as they all possess a unique visual foresight within the genre of traditional figurative painting. What we are met by is not only an impressive artistic craft, but also, the artworks act as the channels through which each artist explores and interprets our current period of time. A sublime layer of enchanting details sets like a refined visual veil, which more or less explicitly covers a piece of contemporary history that the future will revert to and recall the social, economic and not least political issues the world is facing right now.

William Powhida lashes out at the power structure of both the art world and the international political landscape in his series of oversized notebooks of critical and philosophical cogitation. The New York Times describes him as one of our most trenchant and acerbic political artists, with his sizzling sharp comments to the political cockfights, not holding anything back. Nothing escapes his sharp tongue. The conscious and at times systematically destructive cultural struggles are also an issue that very much captures and influences Nicola Verlato's grandiose mythical works, embodying iconoclastic conflicts and dramatic wars through painted historical battle scenes.

From external disasters to the innermost fundamental parts of the human condition, Jean-Pierre Roy, as well as Christian Rex van Minnen, illustrates a poetic and profound inner conflict that draws deep traces through the past and the future. Jean-Pierre Roy's faceless giants bear the massive weight of history as a heavy yoke, while Christian Rex van Minnen's grotesque portraits testify to an inner rot that slowly devours all beauty.

As an avid storyteller, John Jacobsmeyer completely opens up his parallel world where the boundary between digital and physical reality is blurred and fateful situations arise where youthful playfulness can have fatal consequences. Just as conspicuous and savage is the nature of Mi Jus's marvelous, poetic works, overwhelmed by colors, flowers and insects, creating a staggering movement that refers directly to Mi Ju’s personal memory of the vibrant culture of her homeland South Korea.

Do not hesitate to step into booth N-105 and experience six mercilessly skilled artists who have created a thought-provoking show that could easily pass as a museological exhibition.
