The adventure of Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District began on a spring day in 2010. Now, seven years later, we turn the page to a whole new chapter and once again on a spring day, we invite you on board our journey towards new horizons. After seven years in the White Meatpacking District’s functionalist concrete surroundings, we are moving on to the Brown Meatpacking to spread our wings among yellow cobblestones, variegated streets and carcasses on hooks.

Friday March 17th we open the doors to our very own slaughterhouse. During the past six months the new space has undergone a magnificent transformation. We have converted the bleak and brutal slaughterhouse into a clinically cool and perfect match for our ruthlessly ambitious artist team, who will now have three times the space to unfold. With high ceilings, polished concrete floors and yards of wall space we serve the absolute best possible environment for our artists, most of who are known and acknowledged for creating monumental grandiose oil paintings and sculptures that will really come into their own in our new domicile

Moving the gallery into the Meatpacking District seven years ago was in many ways a fateful moment our history so far, as we found a place to call ’home’. The raw and vibrant neighborhood with the unpolished atmosphere has proven to be the perfect counterpart to our dynamic international profile, with a razor-sharp focus on New York, where our artists occupy the abandoned industrial areas of Brooklyn.

Passion is an important keyword in the history of the gallery. It was founded with passion, having also been an important guideline and driving force behind the entire venture. We have without a hitch maintained a sharp focus and gone straight for the gold, uncompromisingly taking on new territories along the way. Passion is an invaluable common denominator that keeps us tightknit with our artists like one big family, each with great humility towards the other's talent.

This is the right time for us to move, expand and create something new and very personal. The vision is to create a unique platform where we can embrace our artists’ ferocity and make room for it, where we can develop new initiatives and strategize our next international conquests. From where we stand anything is possible. In practice, it also meant creating a physical environment where our artists can unfold their complex narratives told through astute figurative compositions, wrapped in political and satirical agendas.

We already have several new initiatives in the pipeline, ready to unfold during this year. So hang on tight, because we are facing a very exciting time in breakneck speed! We will begin by inaugurating of our new gallery space with a spectacular solo exhibition by Jean-Pierre Roy, showing 10 spectacular new masterpieces and a small retrospective of selected works through his impressive career. It is going to be a sensational inauguration and you are invited!
