Pauliina Pietilä treats the urban landscape as a portrait of our time and the people living in it, including herself. We need this mirror as a comfort, but also as a witness. She paints places that she has found during her nightly walks.

 

Pietilä wants to show that what we understand as reality, is colored by what we choose to see in the moment. Sometimes it feels like what's imagined or just an optical illusion is somehow truer than what you actually see. That's the truth Pietilä wants to paint.
