Gallery Poulsen at Art Herning 2026

January 9th- january 11th 2026

A new year does not really begin until Art Herning has taken place. 2026 is no exception, and this year the fair is held earlier than usual, already in the weekend of 9–11 January at Messecenter Herning.

In 2026, it is 24 years since Gallery Poulsen was founded in Herning, and we are very pleased to once again return to the Heart of the Heath, the heart of Jutland, to take part in Denmark’s original art fair: Art Herning. The fair is not only a highlight of the Danish art scene, but also an important platform for the many international artists we represent.

At Art Herning 2026, Gallery Poulsen will, as always, present new works by more than 15 international artists. This year, we are pleased to include several German artists, who will be showing their outstanding works at the fair for the first time.

Gallery Poulsen has always had a close connection to the United States, and we represent many highly talented American artists, who we also bring to the fair in 2026, as is our tradition. This year, we are showing, among other things, several large-scale works that combine Hammershøi’s Scandinavian stillness with Edward Hopper’s American realism. As always, we guarantee an exceptionally high level within contemporary figurative art. Art never stands still – and neither do we at Gallery Poulsen.

At the moment, the political world is marked by great tension, and cultural institutions are under pressure. This makes art, culture and historical perspective more important than ever. The shared cultural values of the Western world are the glue that holds us together. The transatlantic relationship is not only about security and politics, but also a strong expression of unity and shared values.

Freedom of thought, feeling and expression is essential to all artists represented by Gallery Poulsen. This year’s presentation at Art Herning clearly reflects this. Figurative art has always been based on a defined narrative, which the artist wishes to communicate through ancient traditions and techniques, developed and refined over centuries. Art and culture may be the most important platforms for meeting each other with mutual understanding – regardless of viewpoint.

We curate our stand so that it changes continuously during the fair, which means it will look different from day to day. We therefore encourage visitors to stop by on all days of the fair.

Art Herning is not only the beginning of the year; it sets the tone for what the art year has to offer. It is a kind of sneak peek of the exhibitions to come at Gallery Poulsen in the year ahead.

We look forward to welcoming collectors, partners and art lovers – both familiar faces and new visitors.
