Barnaby Whitfield pastels

From The Vault

with Jade Townsend, Barnaby Whitfield and Jean-Pierre Roy.

Sat June 8th - Sat June 29th

Vernissage Sat June 8th 12-16

For the last exhibition before the summer holidays Gallery Poulsen has been to the deep and also to the past to bring forward some gems for our visitors to shine.

With this exhibition we wish to interconnect past and present works. Some are prominent older works while others are completely new and the large scale painting by Jean-Pierre Roy has been recovered to the gallery after being in a private collection for many years. Now, being brought back up on our white walls we can see them anew and from a new perspective. In this new constellation we present water colors, paintings and sculptures by Jade Townsend, Barnaby Whitfield and Jean-Pierre Roy.

Jade Townsend: "The Salvation of Terrible on Top" 2015, mixed media on paper, 69 x 72 cm, 27 x 28 in

The works from the vault are in each their way representing fantastic or absurd universes through adventurous, dreamlike or even nightmarish scenarios - some with a touch of science fiction, some with a touch of myths and fairy tales. They all share a twisted reality - or for the viewer an escape into an alternative world.

Jean-Pierre Roy "Passage to Prairie" 2008, oil on linen, 111 x 198 cm, 44 x 78 in
