December in Gallery Poulsen

On Thursday December 10th we open the doors to "Christmas 2015" – a group show with works by selected artists of the gallery. We will present everything from large to small scale sizes, from colorful to monochrome tones, from paintings to prints in limited editions.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening of this show where we serve the traditional Christmas menu “gløgg and æbleskiver” (Christmas punch and Danish pancake donuts). In addition to this cozy setup we give you the opportunity to get an overall view of the profile of the gallery and an ideal proposal for an exclusive Christmas gift.

Furthermore, we finally got our second showroom in the basement waterproofed and ready to use permanently. This gives us a lot more exhibition space and therefore the possibility of showing you a lot of works at the same time.

In addition to the show “Christmas 2015”, we continue our current show “Photographs” with eleven large scale portraits shot by Austrian photographer Rainer Hosch in the basement. After we facilitated Rainer’s cool photo studio in the beginning of November 'down there', this seems like an ideal and perfect location for his interesting series of portraits of celebrities shot with the revealing ring flash.

"Christmas 2015"
10.12 - 09.01
Opening Thursday 10.12 from 4-7 pm

Group show with selected artists of the gallery: Alfred Steiner, Barnaby Whitfield, Christian Rex van Minnen, Debra Hampton, Eric White, Isaac Arvold, Jacob Dahlstrup, Jade Townsend, Jean-Pierre Roy, John Jacobsmeyer, Monica Cook, Stig Stasig, Tom Sanford, William Powhida, Aaron Johnson.

Currently on view - Rainer Hosch: “Photographs”

Back in a bit colder and darker part of the world, we show eleven impressive large-scale portraits shot by the LA-based Austrian photographer Rainer Hosch. Here you can see close ups of celebrities like Michael Caine, Iggy Pop, Nikki Sixx and Willem Dafoe. Wrinkles, nose hair, and moles are fully exposed, which leaves you with a great bunch of interesting stories of life well lived.

Don’t miss the chance to see this excellent show – it runs thru December 22nd!

Upcoming show - solo with Mi Ju

Latest work by Mi Ju "Family Portrait" on view at Pulse Miami Beach 2015

We kick off 2016 with a solo show by the Korean/American artist Mi Ju and her amazing signature world of imaginary beings. Mi Ju builds up remarkable universes of miniature creatures, which serve as building blocks for the overall work of art. With extreme wealth of detail Mi Ju gives us an interesting perspective on how complex but also structured nature is.

Last time Mi Ju had a solo in Gallery Poulsen was in 2013, so we are really eager and excited to open this show with brand new works made by her gifted hand. The last few years, many people have requested to see new works by Mi Ju, so finally we can give them what they have been asking for.

Gallery Poulsen at Art Herning 2016

True to tradition we will be at Art Herning in the last weekend of January 2016, where we will present a diverse group of selected artists from the gallery. Every year Art Herning picks out a genre that they give extra attention to, and this year it’s photo art. In connection to this, we will bring captivating works by the two photographers Stig Stasig and Rainer Hosch. All galleries showing photography will be labeled with a grey sign so it’s easy to spot out.

We can’t wait to participate at the 19th edition of Art Herning, where we once again will show the western part of Denmark the best of the best when it comes to storytelling, details, perspectives and craftsmanship!
